The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says that the greatest shortages of skilled labour are reported in British Columbia, Quebec, and Ontario.

The findings in the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB)’s October 2018 Business Barometer survey is a 10%increase from the results for January 2018 and a 20 per cent increase from its January 2016 results. The CFIB said the shortage is forcing many employers to limit their “ability to grow.”
Industries reporting the highest shortages in skilled labour were construction, transportation, personal services and natural resources.
The CFIB has been a vocal proponent of immigration’s role in helping solve Canada’s labour shortage.
