People without Canadian citizenship or other visa to be in Canada require a visit visa to visit Canada (unless exempt). A visit visa to Canada allows a temporary stay, usually for up to six months (as a tourist) but for up to ten months for a parent or grandparent of a Canadian.
Business Visit (Temporary Residence)

Business visitors are able to stay for up to 6 months, but most are granted shorter period. Business visitors do not require a work permit (unless they intend to stay for more than 6 months).
