Successful applicants may work according to the visa conditions (such as for the specified employer) and abide by New Zealand laws. They must leave by the time the visa expires and may not stay as a permanent resident on this visa.

A partner or other dependent may apply on a separate short term visa application (such as work or student visa).

    To qualify for a work visa, the applicant must:

    • have a job offer for a job in immediate shortage or
    • have a job offer where the employer can prove they cannot find a more
    • suitable person in New Zealand
    • be in good health and of good character, and
    • have a valid passport (for up to 3 months after the stay)
    • be genuine in wanting to work in New Zealand
