From 16 December 2013, all new visa applicants in Sri Lanka will be required to pay for UK visa applications online.
Applicants for a UK visa in Sri Lanka will have to pay for their visa online before going to the visa application centre (VAC) to submit a printed copy of the application form and biometric information (fingerprints and photograph). Appointments to submit applications at the VAC must be booked online when completing the application form.
Payment can be made to the UK Home Office Border Agency using Visa or MasterCard debit or credit cards or via e-wallet (Skrill). E-wallet accounts need to be created a few days before application to ensure that the funds will be available. Payment online will need to be made in US Dollars only.
Payment confirmation for fee payment via Visa4UK will be received by email from WorldPay. The confirmation email should then be printed and taken to VAC Colombo with the visa application.
Applicants can make online payments using payment mechanisms provided by third parties providing they have asked for their permission to do so. Applicants intending to travel on work, study or settlement visas can ask their UK sponsor to make the online payment. Those applying for visit visas can also, for example, ask their travel agent to pay for their visa application as part of a package when booking flights and/or accommodation.
The new fee payment method is part of UK Immigration’s wider change to allow almost all applications to pay for their visas online by 2013-14.
Applicants who have completed their online application form prior to 16 December 2013 will still be able to use other payment methods currently available, until 14 January 2014. From January 14 2014 only accept visa applications with online payment will be accepted.
