As of Monday 2 June 2014, Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will no longer be accepting applications for the following visa types:
The Contributory Parent Visa (both permanent and temporary) categories are still open.
On 13 May 2014, as part of the Australian Federal Budget news, the federal government announced that these family visa types would be ‘closing soon’ but no official date was provided. The announcement that these visa types were formally closing was made late on Friday afternoon (May 31st) advising that valid applications would need to be received by close of business that date.
At this stage, there have been no announcements as to whether these visa categories which have been removed may be replaced by similar visas.
